A pond pump (SERIOUSLY) GOLDFISH NEED OXYGEN IN THE WATER. Filters and bubble bars or bubble ornaments DO NOT OXYGENATE THE WATER. The best way is with a pond pump, even in an aquarium. If your tank is, say, a 10GAL tank buy a pump that is rated for 150 GPH (GALLONS PER HOUR)If you plan on getting a larger tank anytime soon get a pump now that will accommodate that size tank. GOOD BUGS WILL SET UP HOME IN THE MECHANICS OF THIS PUMP. Good bugs are beneficial to as natural as you can make it environment for your fish. WE WANT LOTS OF THESE.no.3.

If you have a thick layer of gravel (CAN YOUR FISH SIFT THROUGH THE GRAVEL AND MOVE IT AROUND TO SEE THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK IN PLACES) remove the gravel so it is at most 1/4″ thick.
