Merry Christmas to you and your goldfish
We can give our goldfish a merry Christmas by not forgetting to feed, and by not putting off their usual water changes
During the holidays, we’re busy shopping and wrapping presents. We’re busy baking and cooking for special parties and dinners……so much to do, that it’s easy to forget our goldfish. We forget to feed them, or can’t because we’re away visiting Grandma
Merry Christmas
No matter how busy you are, be consistent with feeding. Forgetting to feed one day, and then making up for it the next could cause the fish to become constipated, which leads to floating issues. It could also cause a spike in the cycle, and your fish could be poisoned by ammonia or nitrite
Merry Christmas
Putting off that water change could cause a spike in nitrates, leading to nitrate poisoning. Rushing through the water change could cause nitrate shock, injuring the fish. Nitrates should be reduced gradually
Just because you’re going to be gone for the day doesn’t mean you have to miss a meal. It’s better to feed the same amounts by changing the feeding schedule to work with your busy day. Feeding less more often helps to avoid digestive issues. If I have to be gone for the day, I feed the fish when I first wake up, I feed before leaving, I feed when I get back home, and then again before I go to bed
If I’m going to be gone for a few days, I have a friend or neighbor feed the fish
Taking the very best care of your goldfish, no matter how busy you are is the best Christmas present you could give yourself, your family and your fish
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours
